DESPITE POLLS, MURPHY AND HIMES HANG ON; NATIONAL GOP TIDE FAILS TO WASH OVER CT

Some polls in Connecticut had incumbent Democratic Congressmen Chris Murphy and Jim Himes joining other Democratic members of Congress in the trash heap of the angry, midterm electorate. Not so fast. Murphy and Himes as well as fellow Dems John Larson, Joe Courtney and Rosa DeLauro will all be returning to Washington, DC.

One poll, commissioned by the website CTCapitolReport.com, a site that compiles other news outlets’ stories and opinions, had Republican challenger Sam Caligiuri ahead of Murphy in the 5th district. Murphy won by eight points. The same website had Republican challenger Dan Debicella beating Himes in the 4th district. Himes won in a tight race.
