Earlier this week, Democratic State Central Committee Chair Nancy DiNardo told The Hanging Shad she would be meeting with Gov.-elect Dan Malloy to discuss a number of issues including the future leadership of the party. A report late Friday now makes it clear that DiNardo will continue on as chair.
Among the reasons DiNardo is remaining is clearly the fact that the national “Republican tide” stopped at the Connecticut borders. U.S. Reps. Jim Himes and Chris Murphy were considered in serious trouble but both won (polls commissioned by one website had both losing). Add to that the victory by Richard Blumenthal for US Senate despite a $50 million-plus challenge by Linda McMahon and the election of a Democratic governor—Dan Malloy—for the first time in 20 years, and you have a pretty successful cycle to say the least.
