‘NEW LOOK’ LEGISLATURE TAKES SHAPE

The 2011 session of the state legislature, already complicated by defections from both the House and Senate to the new Malloy administration, began to take form yesterday.

State Senate President Don Williams has released the chamber’s committee assignments. As reported by the Hanging Shad this past weekend, Sen. Eric Coleman will take over as chair of the judiciary committee, a post he will share with state Rep. Gerald Fox, III although House committees have not been released.

Some Senate chairs have been left vacant because special elections are needed to fill the seats being vacated by Sen. Andrew McDonald and Sen. Don DeFronzo (reported here two weekends ago).

In addition, Hanging Shad readers will note what was reported here more than a week ago has been announced as well. State Rep. John Geragosian and former state House Majority Leader Bob Ward are the new state auditors.
