THIS AMOUNT OF SNOW TAKES THE SHAD BACK

There are two places where I’ve seen this kind of snowfall in the month of January: In multiple visits to play hockey at ages five to ten in Duberger, Quebec, Canada and four years at Syracuse University. Syracuse’s snowfall this month, by the way, is 113 inches, dwarfing Hartford which is at about 59 inches. They have a series of tunnels at SU linking dorms to dining halls. Otherwise, we would have starved.

The fine people of Duberger have these ingenious, arching covers for their vehicles that the snow routinely covered. This past month here in Hartford has given me flashbacks.
