The state budget process is in a holding pattern. The Malloy administration says the numbers are realistic. The Republicans say it’s more “smoke and mirrors.” The union chiefs are trying to sell the deal to its members and The Shad is in El Salvador. Everything seems right with the world.

As part of a conference for Oxfam’s Regional Communications Officers, I am in San Salvador with my counterparts from around the world. It’s exciting, challenging and since the world was supposed to end Saturday, anything that happens from here on out is pretty much gravy. So the bar is pretty low.

The downside is, it’s not clear how much time I have to submit entries for The Hanging Shad. If time permits, I will be following events in Connecticut and reporting back to you, my faithful readers. In the meantime, buenos dias, espero que haya un gran dia.
