JUST WONDERING…

…how many of the 6,500 laid-off state workers will apply for the 200 jobs CIGNA is supposed to bring to Connecticut under the “First Five” program. The company will enjoy at least $47 million in tax and other incentives and potentially as much as $80 million depending on how many more than the 200 people they can employ. Having the first layoffs notices arrive to state workers (and Gov. Dannel Malloy’s unwillingness or inability to articulate just how many and in which departments) and announcing the CIGNA deal (critics point out it’s $250,000 per employee they’re supposed to bring in) is terrible timing for the governor.
