There are plenty of questions hanging out there about the traffic stop of state Treasurer Denise Nappier from which Nappier apparently had to walk home. Here the story as we know it.
What we don’t know is:
• Why was Nappier pulled over in the first place? She was in the Hartford’s North End, driving her new, expensive state vehicle, dropping off a friend according to reports. The Hartford Courant’s Jon Lender has a story that raises the question of whether Nappier was profiled.
• Why didn’t the police officer listen to Nappier when she tried to explain who she was and the situation with her state vehicle?
• Couldn’t the police have shown some compassion and found a way to get Nappier home some two miles away?
• Why didn’t Nappier speak out about the situation? The state prosecutor says was no laws were broken; nothing improper was done by Nappier.
Obviously, stay tuned.
