Chances are this was not the grand opening Price Chopper had in mind. A drunken man who stripped down to his underwear threatened to kill Price Chopper employees during the store’s grand opening in Middletown this week, according to police
Robert Cialeglio was arrested outside Home Depot next door, where he was menacing customers. Cialeglio was arraigned Wednesday in Superior Court in Middletown. He is charged with second-degree breach of peace, disorderly conduct, simple trespass, attempt to commit third-degree assault, third-degree assault, threatening and refusal to be fingerprinted or photographed. He is free on $5,000 bail.
Cialeglio threatened to punch one employee at the Price Chopper. He then danced outside the store and yelled at customers who were leaving the store. He stripped to his underwear and threatened to kill store employees when they attempted to kick him off the property. Police were called but Cialeglio left before officers arrived. Then police got a call from Home Depot employees who said the near-naked man was at their store, police said.
Neither Price Chopper nor Home Depot sells pants.
