State Senate Wants to See Budget Plan Before Calling Members in for Special Session

The outgoing and incoming speakers of the state House of Representatives have already notified members about a special session to deal with the state budget situation. The state Senate is not so sure—they want to see the governor’s budget mitigation plan before telling their members to come in. The state is now facing.

Senate Majority Leader Marty Looney tells The Hanging Shad that the apparent budget deficit is a big problem. “The big challenge is where we cut. The governor has made it clear he doesn’t want to raise taxes,” he said.

So the question remains, can the governor close the gap without new revenue? That remains to be seen. Stay tuned.
