Boston, Cambridge, Other Towns Described as Post-Apocalyptic

We’re all still in lockdown here in Cambridge. A “controlled explosion” on Norfolk St—right down the road from me—is scheduled for some time this afternoon. Streets, a mall and a movie theatre parking lot I can see from my window are empty. A fellow Cantabrigian (yes, that’s what we’re called and that’s how it’s spelled) described the town as post-apocalyptic. I agree. It’s not unlike this past winter’s blizzard when no one was allowed on the roads.

This is madness. Burning questions remain. Five now dead (including one of the suspects), an MBTA officer critically injured, maimed marathon victims recovering from lost limbs and other injuries, armored vehicles moving through the streets, nonstop sirens…ugh.
