The American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) seems to think so. It’s out with its annual American Fitness Index (AFI) and there’s Hartford right at number five in the “healthiest” category. The index also measures cities in the “wealthiest” and “wisest” categories. NBC’s TODAY show did a segment on the first listings Monday morning.
“For cities to compete for talent in the future and to provide a high quality of life for residents, it’s critical to regularly evaluate the infrastructure, community assets, policies and opportunities that encourage healthy and fit lifestyles,” said Walter Thompson, Ph.D., chair of the AFI Advisory Board. In a news release “It’s up to community health leaders and advocates in each metro area to put this information to good use.”
