Former television news anchor and journalist Janet Peckinpaugh got some good news in her effort to face Democratic incumbent US Rep. Joe Courtney. In a campaign news release, Peckinpaugh said a new poll of 300 likely Republican primary voters shows her with a huge lead over her two rivals for the 2nd congressional district nomination.
The campaign says Peckinpaugh leads party-endorsed candidate Daria Novak by a 3-1 margin and Doug Dubitsky by more than 4-1. When asked which candidate has the best chance of beating Joe Courtney, Peckinpaugh bests Novak by almost 4-1 and Dubitsky by 6-1.
The poll of 300 likely Republican voters was conducted via telephone on July 13-14. It was conducted by Brooklawn Strategies with the calls being placed by Western Wats at random to Registered Republicans in the 2nd Congressional District. The poll is statistically accurate within 5.4% according to the Peckinpaugh campaign.
