Nine Years Later, Family of Greenwich Cruise Ship Victim Offers $100,000 Reward, Gets National Television Coverage to Jump Start Investigation

Nine years ago, George Smith of Greenwich was killed while celebrating his honeymoon aboard a Royal Caribbean cruise ship. The case still unsolved, his family is now offering a $100,000 reward in an effort to reinvigorate the investigation. The case was also the subject of an episode of CBS’ “48 Hours” Friday night. A new team of FBI investigators has been assigned to try to crack the longstanding case.

“We are hoping that someone will step forward who hasn’t spoken in the past, and that this leads directly to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for George’s disappearance,” said Bree Smith, Mr. Smith’s sister told the Greenwich Post. “It’s been nine years and it has been a very difficult journey, without answers or justice.”
