Full Disclosure of Emails is Necessary; Comey Admits the Timing was THE Reason for Disclosure

“We found some more Hillary Clinton-related emails. We’re going to check them out. They may or may not be important. And oh, by the way, we found them on super-perv Anthony Weiner’s computer. We’ll let you know but we don’t know when.” This is pretty much what FBI Director James Comey told Congress and the American people 11 days before the presidential election.

In the words of Jerry Seinfeld, that’s a pretty big matzah ball hanging out there. But this is not funny, it’s very serious. The Clinton campaign is demanding that all information about the newly found emails be disclosed immediately. That’s a reasonable request and one that should be heeded right away for fairness sake.

We now learn of an internal memo from Comey to FBI colleauges that he released the information about reopening the email probe because of the timing.

“Of course we don’t ordinarily tell Congress about ongoing investigations, but here I feel an obligation to do so given that I testified repeatedly in recent months that our investigation was completed,” Comey wrote. “I also think it would be misleading to the American people were we not to supplement the record.

“At the same time, however, given that we do not know the significance of this newly discovered collection of emails, I don’t want to create a misleading impression,” Comey’s letter continued. “In trying to strike that balance, in a brief letter, and in the middle of an election season, there is significant risk of being misunderstood, but I wanted you to hear directly from me about it.”

Wow. Just, wow. Just when you thought this circus of an election couldn’t get any weirder, it does. And it wouldn’t be complete, of course, unless there was some salaciousness involved. That’s where uber-perv Anthony “Carlos Danger” Weiner comes in. The FBI was investigating whether Weiner was sexting a 15 year-old girl. Weiner’s (now estranged) wife is Huma Abedin, Hillary’s right-hand woman.

Abedin apparently used Weiner’s computer, possibly to send emails to Clinton’s private server. The Bureau will be looking into whether the messages were classified.

Republicans are giddy over Comey’s move. Donald Trump made a fool of himself again saying maybe the election is not so “rigged” and the FBI is now the greatest investigative body in history. A few days ago, he maintained there is widespread voter fraud and the FI was in the tank for Clinton.

Comey has mishandled this entire situation from the start. If there was sufficient information for Clinton to be charged as some FBI and Defense Department career officials wanted, she should have been charged. If not, Comey just should have announced that was the case—end of story. Instead, he held a ridiculous news conference talking about “extreme carelessness.” Now, if he has new information that might be pertinent, just resume investigating. There was no need to tell the country. So where we are now is Comey announces new important (maybe) information with no detail 11 days before an election. Not good.

There is no telling what happens in the closing days of the election. Nothing would surprise me at this point. It’s all an embarrassment and a shame to the American people regardless of whom they support.
