President Claims ‘Absolute Right’ to Divulge Classified Information

It took mere hours for President to knee-cap his top people once again. We went from “He didn’t it” to “Yes, I did it but I had the ‘absolute right’ to do so.” No less a respected and accomplished official than retired Gen. H.R. McMasters was trotted out Monday to deny a Washington Post (and later New York Times) story that the president revealed highly classified material to the Russian ambassador and foreign minister.

That was Monday night. McMasters seemed to deny what had never been alleged.

The Washington Post story never claimed intelligence sources or methods discussed. It reported, “The president’s disclosures to the Russian foreign minister and ambassador during their Oval Office meeting last week jeopardized a critical source of intelligence on the Islamic State — an information-sharing arrangement considered so sensitive that details have been withheld from allies and tightly restricted even within the U.S. government, current and former U.S. officials said.”

McMaster’s was a classic non-denial denial that harkens back to a time years ago.

Within hours, the White House went from “He didn’t do it” (McMasters) to the president himself saying he did it and had the absolute right to do so.

I can’t believe I’m saying this but Sen. Bob Corker (R-Tenn.) is absolutely right.

Practically speaking, we’ve gotten to the point where we can’t believe a thing anyone from the Trump administration says because the president himself will likely undercut the official story anyway. Why in the world would people of high repute like McMasters ever go out on a limb for this guy?

So what now? At what point do the McConnells, McCains, and Ryans of the world start realizing they have nothing to gain by continuing to back this president. Let’s disperse with the, “It’s very concerning…,” “I wish he wouldn’t…,” “Let’s wait and see…” We have example after example that this president isn’t only unqualified and unfit to lead the free world, but also dangerous to people who put their lives on the line for this country.
