NOW IN FOR $40 MILLION, MCMAHON HIDES FROM THE MEDIA WHILE VINCE STEPS UP PRO-WWE CAMPAIGN—IT’S PRETTY MUCH OVER

The signs that the wheels have come off the Linda McMahon for US Senate campaign continue to mount. The Republican nominee has now spent $40 million of her own personal fortune on the campaign and is still behind in the polls by 11-points to Democrat Richard Blumenthal. She has pledged to spend $50 million to buy, uh, make that, win the seat.  And it’s not working.

Another telling decision is to pull back and limit the media access to her. That actually may be a good idea. She has already admitted that talking about her positions on issues such as Social Security and Medicare may mean she won’t win. So why deal with those pesky reporters who want to know those positions?

While Mrs. McMahon has pulled back, husband and business partner Vince McMahon is stepping up his “Stand Up for the WWE” with new videos featuring celebrities praising the WWE. Celebrities like Chris Benoit, Luna Vachon, Eddie Guerrero, Test, Kerry Von Erich and Davey Boy Smith won’t be in the videos. They’re dead. Dead wrestlers.

McMahon has made her business experience her main qualification for US Senate. Therefore, her business—pro wrestling—is fair game for examination. Such a close look is scary. It’s over.
